AI & IOT Fusion: The Smart Systems Hands-on Experience (Beirut Campus)
Bootcamp Summary
AI & IoT Fusion: The Smart Systems Experience is an intensive, one-day hands-on bootcamp designed for high school students (Grades 9–12) at LAU. This fast-paced program introduces participants to the exciting world where Artificial Intelligence meets the Internet of Things (IoT). Through interactive sessions, students will first explore key AI concepts and popular tools that power modern intelligent systems — including image recognition, chatbots, and generative AI. They will then dive into IoT fundamentals and work directly with Raspberry Pi boards to build and control smart connected applications.
By the end of the day, participants will have gained practical experience in creating mini smart-systems prototypes that combine sensors, data, and AI decision-making — empowering them to understand how today’s smart devices think, sense, and act.
Bootcamp Learning Outcomes
By the end of this one-day bootcamp, students will be able to:
- Understand the relationship between AI and IoT and their real-world impact.
- Explore popular AI tools and models for image, text, and data analysis.
- Learn IoT architecture, sensors, actuators, and cloud connectivity basics.
- Configure and program a Raspberry Pi for IoT projects.
- Collect and visualize real-time sensor data.
- Integrate basic AI logic into IoT devices (e.g., smart decision triggers).
- Collaborate in small groups to design and demonstrate a smart prototype.
- Develop foundational problem-solving and computational-thinking skills.
